Hi, I’m James.

I'm a painter based in the small town of Owosso, Michigan. I began painting at the end of 2024, inspired by a piece of art that moved me in a way I couldn’t explain—just by looking at it. Once I picked up a brush myself, I discovered a deep sense of fulfillment in making marks on a canvas—something I hadn’t felt in other parts of my life, even as a scratch golfer, musician, or ER nurse. That feeling—quiet but undeniable—is what I’ll be chasing for the rest of my professional journey.

When people ask if I’ve always been artistic, I usually say no. I never saw my curiosity or passion for new challenges as "art." But in hindsight, maybe that’s exactly what it was. I’ve always dove in headfirst—unafraid to make mistakes, eager to learn, and willing to show up fully. I don’t ask “if” I can do something—I just start doing it until I know I can.

I don’t have a defined style or subject matter yet. Right now, my work explores what interests me—and hopefully, what resonates with you too. I invite you to join me on this new creative journey. Thank you for looking, feeling, and maybe even seeing a bit of yourself in the work.
